Weaver Room Gallery, 2nd Floor

By Sarah Maki

Surfacing’s techniques and the resulting imagery reveal beauty in the hidden, subtle, and inconspicuous details found around us — the surface of water, ice on a window, a muddy snow bank and cracks on a driveway. Echoing the lessons of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese aesthetic philosophy celebrating all things impermanent, imperfect, and incomplete, Maki calls attention to beauty found in the temporal and overlooked.

Free and open to the public.
