Parts of the Whole

Exhibit by John Saurer

PARTS of the WHOLE is a body of work that at its most basic formal level is made up of different parts, each dependent upon the others to complete the composition. This formal approach expands our experience of the work, leaving room for re-organization, re-imagining the imagery, and shifting meaning by presenting the possibility for different points of view.

Artist Statement

It is the artist’s intention to introduce new situations and possibilities for the viewer, challenging them to look closely at media, scale, depth and varied perspectives. Saurer’s use of repeated forms is a highly observant approach that helps connect layers of substance and meaning, both seen and unseen.
