A fascinating window into life in Dublin, North Circular is a documentary musical traveling the length of the city’s fabled North Circular Road. Exploring the history, music and streetscapes of a thoroughfare that links some of the country’s most beloved and infamous places, the film combines powerful stories of local life in the neighborhoods along the road and the brilliant music these lives have produced. A moving portrait filled with gorgeous cinematography, North Circular conjures the ghosts of the past while engaging with the conflicts and celebrations of today, with a little bit of Dublin humor thrown in.

The film includes musical performances from artists local to the North Circular, including Lisa O’Neill, John Francis Flynn, Séan Ó Túama, Eoghan O’Ceannabháin, Ian Lynch & Gemma Dunleavy.

“Beautiful, visually and sonically striking…a heartfelt love letter to Dublin.” – Variety

“Resonant, vivid and beautifully shot…What distinguishes North Circular is the overwhelming importance of music: there’s a musical tradition here that is not simply commemorative and static, but vital and evolving, and given a fresh burst of creativity by the emerging status of women in Ireland – the film features a potent contribution from north Dublin singer-songwriter Gemma Dunleavy. A film made with real artistry.” – The Guardian

“Captivating…For his feature debut, the director offers a fascinating psychogeography of a thoroughfare and beyond. In future years, North Circular will stand as both timeless record of a key artery and as snapshot of a remarkable period in the road’s history.” – The Irish Times
