The Lion King JR. features songs from the 1994 film such as“Hakuna Matata”and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” as well as songs penned for the Broadway production. In its 23rd year of producing full-length musicals, Anderson School has been filling the Emerson with crowds that have grown to expect outstanding production qualities from young performers. 80 students join this year’s ensemble as giraffes, cheetahs, impalas, hyenas, birds, lions and an elephant (operated by four performers inside its feet). Sung in five languages, The Lion King Jr is a spectacle of puppetry, mask work and chillingly beautiful music. The script is abbreviated and adjusted for younger voices, but still offers the heart, humor and message of harmony embodied by the original Disney movie and Broadway musical.
