Artist Talk with Courtney Blazon

Thursday, October 21  |  7-8pm (MT)
Zoom  |  Free but pre-registration is required*

Join us online with Courtney Blazon  for A Year Without Summer – The Cast, Part 2.  Take a closer look at the narrative portraits of  historical figures who experienced the effects of the 1815 eruption of the Volcano Tambora first-hand. This collection is anchored by the influence and intrigue of literary icons Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Mary Shelley, and their cohort; the creation of Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus and the emergence of gothic horror. Benjamin Franklin, W.M.J. Turner, William Scoresby, Ignace Venetz, Luke Howard, Heinrich Hine, Li Yuyang and many more, make up a supporting cast whose stories explore disease, famine, climate science, new movements in the arts, and societal/political changes tied to this singular event.

The artist’s talk will be held online via Zoom, including a Q&A session at the end.

Pre-registration is required.
