LECTURE

Bozeman, MT – Acclaimed author and environmental activist, Rick Bass, will speak at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture, Wednesday, October 4, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Crawford Theater. The event is free and open to the public. Headwaters Academy, an independent middle school, is hosting this event as part of the Headwaters Academy Speaker Series. Light refreshments are served when doors open, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Rick Bass, a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist for his memoir, Why I Came West, was born and raised in Texas, worked as a petroleum geologist in Mississippi, and has lived in Montana’s Yaak Valley for almost three decades. Rick’s newest book, For a Little While, is a definitive collection of stories, new and old. His short fiction, which has appeared in “The New Yorker,” “The Atlantic,” “Esquire,” and “The Paris Review,” as well as numerous times in “Best American Short Stories,” has earned him multiple O. Henry Awards and Pushcart Prizes in addition to NEA and Guggenheim fellowships. He is the writer in residence at Montana State University.
