Celebration of the Arts 2011
Quick Draw Artists

Aaron Schuerr

Educated at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Scotland, Mr. Schuerr is a dedicated plein air artist who works primarily in pastels. A love of the land is tangible in his work, and his delicate, lyrical depictions of Montana's diverse and inspiring landscapes are quickly becoming recognizable to collectors. Mr. Shcuerr uses the classic technique of layering pigment to create richness and depth in his drawings. Stylistic maturity and an obvious commitment to his craft make this artist one of the most promising young painters on the Montana art scene Mr. Schuerr lives in Livingston, Montana with his wife, Lynelle, and their three sons.

Sue Tirrell
Sue Tirrell's work has been included in regional and national juried and invitational exhibitions. Four images of Tirrell's work are included in the book 500 Animals in Clay. Tirrell has been a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT and the Custer County Art & Heritage Center in Miles City, MT, where she was resident artist and director of education from 1998 – 2005. She currently lives and maintains a studio south of Livingston.

Sarah Pilgrim
I Sara is a studio weaver living and working in the high plains of southwestern Montana. It is there that she gains her inspiration for the colors in the scarves and wraps that she weaves. Sara uses color with a spirited hand, often weaving with unexpected combinations. Ideas come while hiking or skiing in the mountains where she sees the blues of lupine on the hills in late spring or the subtle early morning light of winter. The first time she sat at a loom, Sara knew she would be a weaver someday. The rhythm of the weaving process, the feel of thread moving through her hands and the resulting cloth she makes, connects her body and soul.

Edd Enders
Edd Enders feels a certain intimacy with the environment of the Northern Rockies and people's interaction with it. He was born and raised in Livingston, Montana and as a child and adolescent, Edd literally spent all his free time observing, drawing, camping, and hunting. Later, in his teens, he worked on survey teams throughout the Northern Rockies and Plains. For eight years Edd worked as a guide, packer, wrangler, and cowboy. Living in isolated areas gave him ample time to ponder, observe, and draw. Edd looks for patterns, shapes, and relationships that bring an emotional response to him. He conveys that response through color. As his life changes, different and new motifs appear, while at the same time, there are elements that have always moved him.

Loretta Domaszewski
Spending her childhood at boatyards, salt marshes and beaches in Connecticut, encouraged Loretta to become a twelve year resident of Nantucket Island.  The power and beauty of nature is apparent in her artwork.  Natural settings become a metaphor in Loretta's painting. Loretta has lived in Bozeman since 1990, where she continues to study the waterways and natural landscapes. The spirit of a place is the inspiration for a deeper, psychological interpretation of the journey. "Through my expression of art I hope that the viewer can experience the powerful spirit of nature."
